Highlights from Cloud Identity Summit 2017

Opening Night at CIS – Keynote Presentation

Cloud Identity Summit took place in Axiomatics Americas backyard this year: downtown Chicago! More than 1,500 individuals – a record-breaking attendance count – shared their perspectives on rapidly evolving trends and best practices around topics such as dynamic authorization, intelligent identity – the theme of the conference, the Internet of Things, standards adoption, and mobility.

Axiomatics was proud to sponsor the event and had a booth on the expo floor as well as involvement in many of the authorization sessions.

A few key highlights from the show, included:

  • The importance of standards, interoperability, and collaboration across the industry
  • The critical role that identity plays as a foundation for better user experience and better security — enabling businesses to provide more impactful and valuable services to their customers
  • The novel risks and opportunities presented by the emergence of the internet of things — and how identity is foundational to safely realizing these opportunities
  • The need for education about identity at all levels — from boards and CEOs through to individual consumers — and the need for more trained professionals to build this rapidly growing identity infrastructure

Wednesday morning we visited the Keynote: Identity in Digital Transformation panel, hosted by Ron Miller, enterprise reporter for TechCrunch and featuring Kaushal Patel, EY Americas Digital IAM Leader, Jacob Pszonowsky, managing director – cyber at KPMG, Anne Gorman, Sr. Architect, Identity & Access Management at Royal Caribbean, and Don Murphy, Information Security Architect at KeyBank.

Thursday morning Matt Carter from Axiomatics presented what was arguably one of the best attended breakout sessions, where he covered “Dynamic Externalized Authorization in a Microservices World”.  Matt covered deploying authorization services as a microservice and how it fits better within a broader microservices strategy. If you were unable to attend this session or you have more questions, join Matt for a live webinar version of this presentation July 22nd.

Thursday morning we also visited Digital Transformation meets Digital IAM. The Digital Transformation wave is sweeping over the industry as one of the latest trends. Both private and public sector enterprises are making big investments to become digital businesses so they can better serve customers, partners, and citizens.  This session explored how Digital Transformation impacts IAM and what you need to consider to make your IAM infrastructure “digital ready”.  Gerry Gebel, VP Business Development, Axiomatics moderated the session that included Mark Prohaska of NextEra Energy and Kaushal Patel, EY Americas Digital IAM Leader. It was interesting to have the perspective of the power and utilities industry.

Thanks to all who visited the booth and attended our sessions. Don’t forget to register for Matt Carter’s live webinar on dynamic authorization in a microservices world next month on July 22nd. More details and registration can be found here.
