Customers
Axiomatics solutions are utilised by enterprises and governments around the world to ensure secure sharing of information. Our products and services are used in the financial industries, manufacturing, telecom, healthcare, and the public sector to name just a few. Below are some use cases in which solutions from Axiomatics provide proven value on a daily basis.
Global and local banks
More and more financial institutes are looking for a flexible way to deploy solutions that speed up and improve their access control processes. Among Axiomatics customers are some of the world's largest banks, such as Bank of America, as well as some smaller financial institutions such as the Swedish SBAB bank. Examples of business cases include risk intelligence in trading applications as well as the ability to launch new end-user applications and services to market faster.
"With Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) based on the XACML standard, financial institutions get a dynamic system that not only enables secure compliance with regulations and corporate policies but can also be integrated with their existing platforms," says Babak Sadighi, CEO Axiomatics, commenting on the business value provided by Axiomatics.
Online payment services
In what is the world's largest XACML deployment to date, Axiomatics provided PayPal with a complete access management solution which includes the Axiomatics Policy Server (APS), the Axiomatics Policy Auditor (APA) and Axiomatics policy modeling know-how in the form of professional services. This solution can effectively handle 5,000 different security policies and hundreds of millions of authorization evaluations per day.
"At PayPal our customers rely on our ability to ensure that payment procedures are secure at all times," said Michael Barrett PayPalâ's chief information security officer. "Attribute Based Access Control will provide us with the security we require to maintain the high-level of security our customer s expect from PayPal."
Manufacturing
For Axiomatics' customers within the manufacturing sector, such as Bell Helicopter and The Boeing Company, protection of intellectual properties is a prerequisite for efficient collaboration with suppliers and partners in product life cycle management. Such global entities are also often subject to strict export control regulations, something that can be difficult to comply with unless authorization is made context-aware and externalized, via, for example,an XACML-based access control solution.
"We wanted to be independent of vendor specific and proprietary technology which is why we made the decision early on to base our solution on the XACML standard," says Mr. Isbell, PLM Program Manager at Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. "After conducting a thorough evaluation of the solutions on the market, we found that for our needs, Axiomatics has the most comprehensive XACML product available."
Health care
In Sweden, a government initiative called the "National eHealth strategy" has introduced coordination of services on a national level. Sweden's 21 county councils and regions has 250,000 employees within the health care sector operating some 2000 Primary Health care clinics in addition to large and small hospitals. In addition, privately held clinics and hospitals provide some 12% of all health care services with employees of their own. Whether public or private, all health care providers are subject to patient privacy regulations based on which Inera, a jointly owned organization, provides a national security infrastructure. A centralized authorization solution powered by Axiomatics enforces access controls aligned with this privacy legislation.
The Swedish national eHealth initiative is by far the largest implementaiton of technology from Axiomatics within health care. It also illustrates the main driver, namely patient privacy.
Public sector
Technology solutions from Axiomatics are used in very different types of public agencies, such as:
- The Swedish Public Employment Service is the country's largest employment agency. Its primary task is to match job seekers and employers on the labour market. It also has special responsibilities in the field of rehabilitation. Newly arrived immigrants are also offered special services. The agency strives to make it easy for all stakeholders to collaborate and access its services while privacy regulations need to be adhered to. Technology solutions from Axiomatics are rolled out to provide enterprise-wide authorization services.
- SOS Alarm handles emergency call services and co-ordinates rescue activities throughout Sweden. The organization's new IT portal enables health care workers to order and track emergency services such as ambulances and other vehicles. The Axiomatics Policy Server helps ensure authorized users get the services they need, while blocking any unauthorized use. Commenting on the system, technical manager at SOS Alarm, Per Palm said, "The new e-services platform is a milestone for SOS Alarm. Now we can offer all our clients and partners new methods to communicate with us."
OEM customers
Many OEM customers make use of authorization technology from Axiomatics within their own software solutions. Companies such as Datev eG, which offers a range of comprehensive products and services for auditors, tax consultants and enterprises that are doing business across international environments, have successfully implemented our Policy Decision Point (PDP) solution into their offering.
DATEV eG, which has nearly 39,000 members and around 5,500 employees, was the first company to make use of the .NET version of the Axiomatics PDP, which ensures that enterprise-wide policies are enforced to safeguard the integrity of customer information at all times.
